Dr Tomáš Šmejkal

🎓 Resume
Dr Tomáš Šmejkal received his diploma in chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague (Czech Republic) in 2005 and his PhD in organic chemistry in 2008 from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Germany), where he worked on supramolecular transition metal catalysis with Professor Bernhard Breit.  Following a postdoctoral stay with Professor Michael Krische at the Freiburg Institute of Advanced Studies (Germany) and at the University of Texas at Austin (USA), he joined Syngenta Crop Protection AG (Switzerland) in 2009. He has been working within the Process Chemistry Research and Process Technology (Chemistry Development) departments, currently as a Senior Team Leader. Tomáš Šmejkal is a co-author of 40 research publications and patent applications.

Tomáš’ research focuses on using transition metal catalysts for the synthesis of new agrochemicals, in a scalable, safe and economical manner.
